Here, we shall see six things that are common to every successful man and how to imbibe them.
Big Dreams: Every successful man at one point or the other had an insight, caught a vision, dreamed big or thought big. Your dream is the actual definition of what success means to you. How a man thinks is everything about the man. Successful men are constant dreamers. They always see themselves great. Greatness does not come ordinarily. Permit me to say that a man's vision is always greater than the man and a vision smaller than the man is no vision at all. The picture you see has a lot to tell of what you will achieve. The Snoodle's tale (if you missed the story Click here) tells a lot about how the picture we have of ourselves affects our attitude, and ultimately, our achievements. To be a millionaire, you think like a millionaire. Be optimistic. Dream big! Think big! That is the first step to success.
Under Study: Every successful man one way or the other has a mentor. For every field one intends to venture into, there are people who have gone that path before. There are foundations of knowledge you can leverage on to kick-start. Are there ideas or technologies based on you area of interest? You can build on them. Tesla laid some foundations many years ago and people are building on that today to make tremendous impact. One needs to research and understudy people who have a wealth experience. Study your area of interest, do a kind of feasibility study, ask questions, and build capacity. No one is an island or a know-it-all. Mentoring helps one to have smoother take-off and to become stable readily. Experience is the best teacher. However, it is better to learn from other people's experiences than just from yours. It costs you less.
Road Map: Great men plan on a daily basis. They create road maps to their dreams. Many people live and die in dreams without actualizing them. After you have painted the picture, you need to make it real. The first step is to create a road map to the dreamland. Set your goals. This also is called planning. I said in the introduction that success does not have a general measure. However, the goals you set are the actual measures of your success. At every point in time, you compare your achievements with your goals to know if you are meeting success. In setting your goals, you need to be realistic. Set your long-term goals and break them down into short-term goals. Then you need to set a time frame for each. As simple as it may appear, you need to pen down every detail.
Innovations: Success to a great mind is all about influence. This is where innovation comes in. To be relevant, you need to create value. An innovative mind thinks of how to do things uniquely and differently. If a product has been in existence, an innovator thinks on how to improve on it to make things better for people. Most great minds do not make money making a priority. However, creating good values inevitably attracts wealth. Money is a reward problems solved or values created. When I picked up my first job, many colleagues of mine were all out to make quick money. I on the other hand made a decision to create value in my service delivery and that was indirectly a self-development. This paid off eventually. Learn to do things differently. Solve problems and people will thank you for making your money.
Discipline and Determination: Lastly, success cannot come without discipline. Naturally, man has a tendency to find an easy way out. This cuts across every area of life. In discipline, you need to stick to your plans. Success demands discipline. Discipline in turn drives you to make drastic changes in life. To meet success, you need to manage your time properly, define your friends and relationships. It takes discipline. You also need discipline to invest money and time into self-development. Persistence and determination are also inevitable. Success is not the complete absence of failure, but continuously working on and improving until one achieves the desired result. Someone said that failure is nothing but another chance to do it over again, and to do it better. "If you have not failed, then maybe you have never tried something new". This then means that success comes out of an undaunted approach to life issues. Never call it a quit because quitters never win.... See you at the top!
Wow... simply a great post!
