Re-Defining The Word Impossible

Impossible! Does it have a new definition? Before the 20th century, there was always this argument that it was impossible for man to fly with anything heavier than air. Ironically, birds were already flying, and were and are heavier than air. In the 19th Century, Otto Lilienthal already started experiments on flying. He used hand gliders to test the lift that could be generated using different airfoils.

In the early 20th century, the Wright brothers made a breakthrough and flew with a machine much heavier than air. While they were developing their plane, they made calculations for the power and weight of the engine needed to propel the plane. They then wrote all the engine manufacturers for an engine with the specifications. The engine experts at the time said it was impossible to make an

Managing Your Spending- One Basic Tool

Have you ever gone on a shopping spree with some good cash, only to return and was sure you lost some money in transit? Actually, you did not lose a dime. You only went shopping (..smiling). Again, have you ever had a pay raise and after all, you did not feel any cushioning from the pay raise? Maybe you need to keep a check on your spending habit. Budgeting is the simple tool to keep you in check and make you spend wisely. I once had a twenty percent pay raise. I realized that I still spent everything without any difference in my living standard. The question is, “what happened to the 20%?” I then started making my budgets, writing them down, and keeping record of actual spending afterwards. Things began to balance up naturally. This taught me that one can spend all one has no matter how much one has and it would still not be enough. On the other hand, one can save out of what one has no matter how little one has.

Budgeting in simple term means planning ones income and expenditure. Making a budget gives one an idea of what one's cash flow looks like. It helps one develop discipline when one learn to respect its boundaries. Maybe you have always lived in debt; this is your first step to becoming debt free. You do not necessary need a consultant or special software to help you out with this. To make your budget, here are things you need to consider:

An Alternative Source for Africa - Solar Energy

Energy from the sun when fully harnessed would be of enormous value. In the world today, about 65 % of total energy we consume comes from fossil fuels. The challenge here is that fossil fuels deplete much faster than the replenishment rate. This invariably implies that with time, humanity will run out of fossil fuels. This gives rise to the need for search into alternative energy sources, which are sustainable and renewable. The most sustainable and renewable source is solar energy.

10 Things You Should Not Do- Journey to Success

1.       Never start a day without planning. Do not start your day without having a direction. If you do, you will achieve far less than you should. Success is measured by the goals achieved. Set your goals each day before starting the day. You get focused once you do that first.

2.       Do not shy away for fear of failure. Most success at one time or the other failed. Do not shy away from trying for the fear of failing. Not try out something new is already failure. It is better to make a mistake, learn from the mistake and get it right after.

3.       Never approach an offer with a beggarly attitude. If you are looking for a job or seeking a contract, do not approach it with a beggarly attitude. It will not get you the job. Even if it will, you would have already lost your bargaining power. A beggar would always have no choice. That puts the employer or contract giver at advantage.

3D Printing- Amazing Technology

                                                       Robo 3D printer at work

Wow! Thinking of what technology is turning out to be is just amazing. I actually feel there is no limit to development in technology. I have seen pretty amazing technologies and I must confess that 3D printing is yet another stride. I just imagine a time when you stand alongside a 3D printed version of you, and one cannot which is the real you.. Weird! It’s getting there.

The word 3D stands for 3-dimension(al). 3-dimensional printing (3D printing) also known as Additive manufacturing is a process of making a 3-dimensional solid object of any shape from a digital model. This is achieved by a successive layered additive process printing. Here, layers of a material or different materials are printed successively to get the object shape. This has some resemblance with the legacy 2D printing technology. However, instead of having just one layer of printing with ink on paper, you have many overlaying sections of a material, in most cases, from resins or thermoplastic. Before the emergence of this technology, most traditional 3D shapes were made using subtractive processes like chiseling, cutting, drilling and so on. Today, 3D printing makes 3D modeling a lot easier, and is no longer limited to arts and sculpture, but has gained application into almost every field ranging from Medicine to Engineering, to Architecture, fashion and a whole lot more. It’s amazing how quickly this is developing.
