Be First To Know- Nokia Launches Android Phones

(Review of Nokia X Series video from Pocketnow)

Wow! Is that Nokia? It is Android. Nokia announced the launching of its first Android phone today at a Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. Nokia finally succumbs to the pressure of making android phones for emerging markets. In an announcement by Stephen Elop on February 24, 2014, Nokia unveiled its X android series- the X, X+ and XL. These come in six different colours with 5MP cameras each (XL has a 2MP front camera) and prices ranging from 89 Euros to 109 Euros. The entry X model Nokia phones would be on sales immediately. The other two models in the series, X+ and XL would be made available in the market beginning from the second quarter of the year.

The announcement has attracted both criticisms and commendations. The Nokia android has its own apps store and comes with just some pre-installed apps like Skype, One drive, BBM, Twitter and other social network apps. Other apps can be installed by the user from an MicroSD card or other apps stores. For me, this is a good move by Nokia and the phone features are great.

Nokia is known for its smart phones running on windows OS. It was a leader in the mobile world but has in recent times, struggled to meet up with the competition especially in the emerging markets where lower end android phones had the market share. Microsoft, a software company has reached an agreement to buy the Mobile Unit of Nokia.

  1. So the aim was all alongside was for Nokia to actually keep away from using Google companies. We would see the xda-developers all of the sudden substitute Nokia Android imaginative and prescient with one thing more good and really straight from Google.
